Little itty bitty thing

A little surprised on how tiny this heifer was. I don’t think she was 35 lbs. Most are close to 70 lbs.

Moved her and mama to the barn to keep an eye on them. Mama’s milk wasn’t in yet and little heifer was just so tiny. G pampered her a couple of days to give her a strong start while we waited on mama’s milk to come in. Little heifer refused to take the bottle from Andy- wanted G. Little stinker.

She is nursing mama now and both are doing well!

Storm & New Baby

Storm rolled in while G and I were checking for new calves. The sky was just GORGEOUS seeing the rain come in. This photo definitely doesn’t do it justice.

The next day G and I got a calf up that was just born out in middle of the field. With the hot day and bigger than normal years on mama it was best to get them in the barn- out of sun and help him figure out how to handle the milk supply. Andy helped the little guy out.

Just love what God provides.

Rare capture

Thought about calling this ‘Rare Sighting’, but A & W working in the shed is an almost daily thing. It really is a rare capture that they allowed me to take a photo at all.

I made some friends on my walk…

Before tick season is in high gear (already found one in February!) I like to walk through the pastures for fresh air and exercise. The pasture with the baby calves is my favorite. ❤️

Busy evening

When you see two feet hooves toward the sky like this it means there is hope, but also fear.

This mama needed help as calving a breech calf ( back feet first) is difficult. Andy had a feeling he needed to come home early and thank goodness he did. This calf was a hard pull.

Good news though- all is well with mama and the bull calf.

A little extra help

Sometimes the new babies don’t know what to nurse on and need a little help.

Having calm mama cows helps when we need to help.

I have the easy job

This man right here will carry a calf acre by acre to get it and mama in the barn where they need to be. Not a normal thing for our farm, but the calf needs a little help and the barn is the best place for it. I got the easy job of following behind in the ATV.

Pray for us please

Most of Missouri is in severe drought. Our farm and majority of farms in the area haven’t seen significant rain in months. We need rain for hay. We need rain for crops. We need rain for our farmers. Please pray for us and others.

Weigh-in day!

Another year down and another year closer to the last for them. I love how they work together and enjoy each other’s company. We all learned that we need to work on our weight guessing. ;)

Lucky night

She had twins last year but sadly only one made it. This year is going to be a lucky year. We ALL need that don’t we?

They're just apples, but…

One of my most favorite times on the farm is when apples are ready. I know… silly. The harvest means back aches from hours of peeling and cutting and late days canning.

Don’t care. I love that I planted those trees, waiting kinda patiently for years and now have enough for a year’s supply of apple goodness.
